Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Tuesday, friends! I certainly don't mind starting the work week on a Tuesday. After tomorrow, we'll be halfway through the work week with another weekend on the horizon. Just how I like it ;) How was your Memorial Day weekend?

We had a great one!On Friday I got off of work around 3:15 (praise!) and ran a few errands before heading home. I updated our home decor a little this week, most specifically the guest bedroom, but the living room got a few new touches as well. We dined outside on Friday night, sitting on the deck with pandora playing and our string lights twinkling. Mom and I headed to Charleston on Saturday for our annual Memorial Day weekend shopping trip at the outlets, and oh my goodness we got so much stuff. Almost every store had 50% off the whole store, including clearance. We really racked up at Banana Republic and Ann Taylor...Josh also scored some pretty sweet items. It is truly the best time to hit the outlets, mom and I score big every year. I think we probably got the best deals this year. We had to make several trips to the car to drop off our loot during the day. We ate at a fabulous BBQ restaurant in Charleston before heading home.

Sunday we did our usual church thing, and afterwards we headed downtown to Motor Supply Co. for brunch. It was quite delicious, as expected, and I tried my first bloody mary. I have to say, it was probably one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted. I literally felt like I was drinking shrimp, it was awful. But, now know! Mimosa please! We don't brunch all that often so this was definitely a nice little treat.

On Monday we headed to mom and dads house in the early afternoon after we had a lazy morning of sleeping in. We floated in the pool and cooked hamburgers that evening. We topped it off with watermelon then came home, took Murph to the park, then crashed on the couch as we got ready for the work week ahead.

A great weekend indeed. We also took plenty of time this weekend to remember the fallen soldiers. I read numerous articles this weekend about the military and their families, and the respect I have for these folks is just out of this world. Their sacrifice is enormous and a thank you could never be enough. I'm so humbled by their service to our nation and honored to live in this great country.

This Weeks Snaps

IT's FRIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Praise.the.Lord . Is it clear that I'm glad it's Friday and we're on the cusp of a weekend? ;) I hope you're just as delighted about it being Friday as I am. I'm sharing a few snaps from our week.

Last night we went downtown for First Thursday on Main. Main Street in Columbia started this a few years ago, but it seems like its really picked up steam as of late. The first Thursday of each month the restaurants on Main Street offer drink and food specials, the art galleries are open longer, there a people performing down the sidewalks, it's just a lot of fun, especially since the weather has been so great lately. We went to Cantina 76 and I had mexican food for the third time since Saturday and rounded out my margarita total since Saturday at six. Six you guys. I didn't even think I liked margaritas until this week and six drinks in a week is probably more than I have in six months usually, ha! I guess I was just feeling extra festive this week and wanted to draw out Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The strawberry basil margarita at Cantina is the bomb.

This little boy has been extra sweet this week. I just love him so. And I mean, just the cutest, look at the face. I'm thankful to work so close to home so that I can spend time with him at lunch. He's been pretty playful lately and I just melt, it's the cutest thing in the world. (How am I going to act when I have a human child?!)

Since I am so close and go home for lunch almost everyday, I've had a lot of opportunity to tidy up the house and keep it extra clean, which I love! On any given day you can find me enjoying a salad on the deck with Murphy and then going through the house fluffing pillows, finishing dishes, dusting, straightening picture frames, putting clothes away and I even cleaned the shower one day this week, ha! I love coming home (and have Josh come home) at the end of the day and the house be sparkling! That being said, I basically did a mini overhaul on our bedroom one day this week. And on a different note, the sunsets this week have been incredible. I walked out on the deck one night and the whole sky was pink, purple and blue. I especially love the way it streams into our bedroom window. I really love Spring.

Here's to hoping you've got a spectacular weekend planned!

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

Hi guys, happy Wednesday! Did you have a great Cinco de Mayo yesterday? I certainly did. Josh and I enjoyed tacos piled full of delicious toppings, a huge bowl of chips with queso and homemade salsa, a margarita for me and beer for him. (Side note: go to pinterest right now and pin the Pioneer Woman's salsa recipe. To.die.for.) We sat out on our patio with the string lights on, candles flickering and Pandora streaming. It was nothing short of wonderful. The temperature was perfect and we were out there for over an hour chatting about anything and everything. A fabulous Cinco de Mayo indeed.

See that cute little succulent right there? That's what Josh and I are giving for Mothers Day this year. My granny was at our house a few weeks ago and saw my ever growing, now ginormous, succulent and mentioned that she wanted one. I thought it'd be a great idea for all of the mothers and grandmothers in our lives as a sweet little token of appreciation on Mothers Day. Also, when asking my mom about Mothers Day gifts a week or two ago, she told me that she'd love for her, myself and granny to get pictures made. One of the best photographers in town just so happens to be offering mini sessions the weekend after Mothers Day and we're booked for a session that Sunday. I'm so excited and know that the three of us will treasure these pictures forever!

We're working on sprucing up our jungle of a backyard and hope to have our flower bed next to the house done this weekend! When I saw that the backyard was a true jungle when we moved in, I'm not kidding. I really wish I would have taken before pictures, but my dad and uncle got to cleaning it up so quickly that I didn't get a chance (but I'm so thankful that they helped us wrangle it.) We're thinking of doing hostas and some type of flowering plant in the bed. This past weekend we purchased the stones to outline the bed and got those put down. We also have two rose bushes that are inside the flower bed that were planted when we bought the house, so we need to get one more to fill in the space. Our backyard has a long way to go, but I'm proud of our progress!

This past weekend I took a short trip to Charleston to spend time with some of my favorite gals. Life has taken all of us many, many miles apart, but being able to come together as if no time has passed is just so beautiful to me. Time with my ladies is so precious. And last week I hosted girls dinner at my house with two more of my best friends, we dined al fresco on a perfect spring evening. My friends fill my heart with so much joy!

And one last note, I'm celebrating one month of my new job today! My heart is so thankful.

Oh and PS - I have been jamming out to the Tim McGraw station on Pandora. Listening to '90s and early 2000's country music takes me right back to growing up and riding around with my dad in his truck. Go enjoy your Wednesday peeps!
