Soon-to-be-Mrs.Colvin: Bridal Shower

You guys, my first shower is already over. How is that even possible?! It's mind blowing! Wedding festivities have officially begun! My MOH hosted my shower this past Saturday and oh.my.goodness.gracious. it was perfect and SO beautiful! Griffyn is incredibly talented in the crafting department and her talents were definitely showcased in the d├ęcor of this shower.

The colors were blue and orange and she incorporated chevron and burlap...which, put it all together and it equals total perfection. She had delicious food and sweet treats and mason jars at every turn...be still my heart. I find myself having trouble finding the words to use to describe this shower. It was so beautiful and the love that I (and Josh) were showered with is just so awesome, I have a great set of friends, let me tell you.

Quite a few of my girls couldn't make it to the shower but I thought about them all day and can't wait until we're all together again...very soon! But the girls that were there was such a joy and I so loved spending time with them.

Josh and I got so many wonderful gifts, I can't even tell you how excited I am to use them in our kitchen or display them around our house! Our friends and family are so thoughtful!

Griffyn had mason jars with hibiscus tea bags inside for favors. Our engagement pictures were hanging all around the house. There were little pennants and banners on the cupcakes and everything just fit together wonderfully. I had a BLAST catching up with my girls that I haven't seen in a while and I'm so excited for more wedding festivities in the very near future. The countdown is seriously on, y'all!

My church shower is coming up in 3 short weeks and I can't wait to celebrate our wedding once again with the sweet, sweet ladies of our church. Soon after that will be my bachelorette party and then the next thing ya know, our wedding weekend will be here. I am so ready, so so ready.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this weekend, Griffyn and all my best friends!

Merry July!

I decided that it would be super fun for Josh and I to celebrate Christmas in July this year. We did something very low-key but it was such a good time and something we plan to do for years to come!

We didn't get to celebrate on July 25th but we did celebrate on the 26th. I decorated is apartment with Christmas decor and we listened to Elvis Christmas music alllllllll night. We kept laughing the whole time because it really did start to feel like Christmas time and we had to keep reminding ourselves that it was July!

We had sugar cookies for dessert after dinner in honor "Santa's cookies". Speaking of dinner, I wanted to do something different and something we hadn't had together before so I made chicken parmesan and thankfully, we both really enjoyed it. That was my first time cooking a legit meal before and I did it all by myself so I was a little nervous, needless to say. But it really did turn out great and I could kick myself for forgetting to take a picture of the finished product. But I will be sharing the recipe here on the blog very soon because it is so easy to make and is great for dinner!

We were going to watch a Christmas movie but we literally didn't have one. So, for next year, we made note to buy Christmas movies, haha!

Did You Just Say 57 Days?

57 days until I'm a MRS! Because the wedding countdown is getting suuuuurious around here I feel extremely obligated to talk about updates on le bloggy.

So let's see...I took my bridals 2 weeks ago and was so freaking sad when it was over! What is wrong with me?! I felt the same exact way when our engagement pictures were over, I want to do everything over and over again...until I get stressed...then I'm ready to RUN as fast as possible to the court house with my man, ha! The CD of all the pictures should be here in the next 2 days so you'll have to excuse me while I sit in front of the computer screen for too many hours obsessing over how great our photographer is ;) (Hey Amanda, you're incredibly awesome!)

Our stamps for the invitations and our RSVP's came yesterday, woot woot! So cute! Speaking of invitations I have got to get the rest of those stuffed and then get them addressed, they're going out in 2 weeks!

Our runner was ordered yesterday, SO excited for that bad boy to come it, it's going to be such a staple for the wedding "theme".

My first bridal shower is Saturday and I am over the moon excited about it! I can't wait to see everyone and celebrate this awesome union with my handsome groom :) Recap to come early next week, hold me to it!

A little gift for my bridesmaids for the bachelorette party came last week...and I got someone else's order...and I have YET to hear back from the Etsy shop about it getting it fixed...but I'm going to keep my cool...until next week, then I'm going to possibly lose it on that woman. And these little gifts are SO cute, I want to get my right order!

I ordered a shirt to wear on our honeymoon yesterday and I'm looking forward to it arriving! Speaking of honeymoon...we really need to book that...like soon. No worries, we've pretty much got it stapled down, just gotta book it. I did take my time off of work this week for it though :)

Alright now September 21st...HURRY HERE! I've got one fantastic man to marry!

Black and White Chic

I love a good, classic look. And I don't think you can get any more classic than an attire of black and white. I bought this maxi dress a few years ago and I LOVE IT! It's so easy to wear for a day of shopping or works perfect for a dressier event, just throw on some fab jewelry and a pair of great wedges and voila! What a great outfit. I love having staples like this in my closet and it's always my go-to when I'm not really sure what to wear or feel like I can't find anything to wear.

I paired it with a leopard belt and gold accessories for church one Sunday morning.

Since I started working I've really enjoyed being able to put outfits together everyday. Because the majority of my wardrobe the beginning of this summer was PJs or shorts and a tee ;) I've got to do a better job of taking pics of my work attire so I can put it together for a blog post, but I must be honest...I really enjoy getting out of those clothes as soon as I get home and get into my comfy ones, haha!

Happy Christmas in July!

Hello, Gorgeous!

I was pleasantly surprised to find a Mary Kay from Influenster in my mailbox a few weeks ago. And in perfect timing, it came a couple weeks before my bridals so I was very excited to use my new makeup for my bridal portraits! It had a ton of fabulous goodies inside!

Cream Eye Color- Violet Storm
They say: Soft, creamy, long-wearing formula
I say: It was a purple shade, which just so happens to be the wedding colors! I used it for my bridals and it went on SO great and I normally shy away from cream shadows but this was fantastic! I also got the brush to put it on with which, in my opinion, is the key to having success with cream shadow. It was also definitely long-wearing.

Lash Primer
They say: Dramatic definition. Fuller-looking lashes
I say: I had never used an eyelash primer before and was so glad I got the chance to try it out! I really do think this lengthened my lashes and made my mascara really stand out on my lashes.

True Dimensions Lip Stick in Pink Cherie
They say: Intensely moisturizing. Exquisitely smoothing
I really liked the color, it's a GREAT pink for the summer time! Goes on very well and last pretty long. Feels good on your lips!

Lash Love Lengthening in I love Black
They say: LASHlicious! Long, Strong, Seriously separated lashes.
I say: A good mascara! Really separates your lashes and makes it look like you have more than you actually do! Works very well with the primer.

So that is what I received in this fabulous box and I am so excited to use all of this new makeup to recreate the makeup from my bridals for the wedding day!

Thanks Influenster, you never disappoint and I'm always so pleasantly surprised to find a box in the mail!

The Only Constant is Change

Hi friends! How is it that a week has passed since I've blogged?! I've been super busy but of course, not to busy to keep up with everyone's blogs!

I started my new job yesterday and even though it's only the second day, I'm still trying to figure out my nightly schedule after I get home each afternoon and how to make my time at home productive. I've really enjoyed the first two days of work and the girl training me, Lauren, is SUCH a doll and I'm very sad she's leaving! I'm trying to retain a ton of information this week so that I don't make too many mistakes in the future ;)

This past week I have been literally in constant prayer, the Lord and I have had some great conversations. I have been totally leaning on prayer to calm my nerves at my new job, to help me make this new life transition smooth and many, many other prayers.

I am so excited that this new chapter of my life has started and in just few days we'll be 2 months away from being newlyweds! So you can imagine life right now is filled with name change information, marriage licenses, home arrangements, insurance changes, I mean...I think I could type this lists for days, ha! But nonetheless, although they are things that stress me out at times, they are all great things.

Lauren and I were talking today about how the only constant thing in life is change and oh how true that is. She's getting ready to move to Georgia with her husband, I'm getting married, and so many changes are taking place right now. Change is so refreshing but also a time for adjusting and seeing what God has around the corner for you. Change excites me, scares me, makes me anxious, and especially makes me trust in the Lord as to what's to come.

As for the blog, I'll be having a review of a box I received in the mail from Influenster a few weeks ago, it was sponsored by Mary Kay and what a fabulous box it was, can't wait to share what goodies I received!

Here's to hump day tomorrow and a fabulous end of the week! I'm meeting up with some high school friends Friday after work and I can't wait to see their beautiful faces!

Tea Party For Twenty One

This past weekend my mom, my granny and I headed to a nearby town and went to the cutest little tea house you've ever seen! Mom heard about this tea room and thought it'd be the best idea to celebrate my 21st birthday and boy was she right.

When you arrive you head upstairs to a loft type area and get to pick a fabulous hat to wear while having tea. They have every shape, size, and color of hats to choose from! We tried on quite a few before settling on the 3 we chose. You then head upstairs and get to pick your tea cup for the day from a huge table full of different tea cups! Then you head to your table to start sipping on some tea and tasting some delicious food.

The cold tea for the day was a black tea with a hint of watermelon...holy goodness. Then we started with a hot passiontea mango that was absolutely delicious! We started our food off with a peach scone and a peach soup. The scone was delish...the soup, kind of tasted like sour milk but that is the ONLY thing that I didn't particularly care for. And to counter that, I saw many tables with empty soup cups, so some people did enjoy it.

You get to choose 2 teas for the day from a list of about 40 or 50. Mom and Granny let me choose so we had the pumpkin spice tea and the Granny Green Apple tea, and boy we're they to die for. The pumpkin took me straight to Thanksgiving/Christmas time and I was in heaven, we all loved it. And for the green apple, it was so refreshing and light, I loved it for a hot summer tea.

After the scone and soup we had a broccoli and cheese quiche and a slice of watermelon and cantelope...I truly meant to get a picture but we dug in so quickly that we all devoured it before I could get a picture of anyone's plate, ha!

Afterwards we had 3 tier tray with veggie sandwiches on the bottom, chocolate covered fruits in the middle, and cupcakes and fudge on the top. Each of us had one of each thing to taste and this tray was divine. Oh goodness the food was great. We were all stuffed when we left.

I am SO glad Mom thought to go do this to celebrate my birthday! The place was so sweet and quaint. We were there for probably 1 1/2 to 2 hours, it was quiet, everyone at the other tables were clearly enjoying themselves as well and the atmosphere was just perfect. We hope to be able to do this every year for one of our birthdays.

Afterwards we shopped in the antiques stores in downtown Ridgeway, which was tiny but adorable. There were about 4 or 5 shops to go in and we literally find something at every shop. This one place, called the Cotton Market, had THE best furniture, I had to pry myself away from so many things, you have no idea. But we really did get a few gems while we were shopping. And the old feel off the town and street was so nice, we had the best day. I love spending days with those two women!

If you live in SC and want to go do something out of the norm, THIS is the place. Great for birthdays, bridal luncheons, or just a good excuse to enjoy yourself! The place is Laura's Tea Room.

Five on Friday

Sure has been quite around the blog this week huh, folks? I do apologize for that but BIG, GIGANTIC, HUGE things have been happening this week...and I can't wait to share them with you...but just not quite yet :)

I celebrated the 4th yesterday with this sweet man. We went to a baseball came last night and watched fireworks, I'm pretty sure this is our new tradition. We also had a cookout with the fam. It was a great 4th of July! Thank YOU to the men and woman that have fought for this country or are fighting today, we are so thankful for all that you do and couldn't live in this free country if it wasn't for you!
Photo: Happy 4th of July! Big day for this Colvin clan & ended it with baseball and fireworks!

Only 3 more days until my birthday, I'm pretty darn excited ;)

We're 2 1/2 months from being married!

This coming week is my last week of rest and relaxation before I start my new job...I sure hope this body of mine lets me sleep late every.single.day.

It has rained here literally ALL week but today it looks like the sun is going to shine bright!

July Baby!

I woke up this morning and laid in my bed and thought "holy cow how in the world is it already July?!" then my mind immediately went to "there is so much going on in July!".

I have a little thought in the back of my head that this month is going to be a big one with a lot of transitions and changes and some very fun activities going on.

First up, my 21st birthday is a week from TODAY! Mom, Granny, and I are going to a tea party to celebrate on Saturday and I'm so excited! Josh and I will be celebrating at some point and I hope to get to do something fun with my girls as well! July 4th is just a few days away and is one of my favorite holidays! In just two short weeks I get to take my bridals! Oh I can't wait and I'm going to be chomping at the bit to get those pictures back! The girls bridesmaids dresses are here, we're picking them up tomorrow! My first bridal shower is at the end of this month and I can't even begin to express to you how excited I am for the celebrations of our wedding to begin! We are looking at houses this month :) A sweet sorority sister is getting married in 2 weeks and I am so looking forward to seeing her walk down the aisle to her groom. Oh and I can't forget this one, I start my big girl JOB this month, only 2 more weeks to sleep in late...not sure how I'm feeling about that, ha! But mom and I did rack up on a ton of new work clothes yesterday. I can't wait to see that first paycheck roll into my bank account...but it will probably roll right back out to contribute to a down payment on a house...which I am A-Ok with ;)

So July, I think you're going to be a good month.
