Hi sweet friends! I'm here for Wedding Wednesday on this very windy, unseasonably warm Wednesday morning. I'm sitting at my desk with the window open, cup a green tea and Hootie and the Blowfish playing on my iTunes. It's a good start to the day.

Dear Wedding,
You are stressing me so bad. Riddle me this, why are you so expensive? We want you to be beautiful, definitely...but we also want to have a dime lfet to our name after this shin dig. If you could cut us some slack, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, The "gonna be broke as a joke" Colvins

Dear Mom,
I am so thankful for you. You are truly emailing and calling and contacting and meeting with vendors all day everyday and helping as much as you can. Thank you for that, I really, really mean it. I could not do this without you.

Dear Dad,
Listening to you answer the phone "I'm not talking weddings, here's your Mama. Love you goober. Maybe you should elope, would be easier" makes my day, you're a funny man, you know that?

Dear sweet fiance,
Sorry for my out burst of tears and breaking down and freaking out over this wedding biz...I just want to be your wife, that is all. Why was I born without wedding planning running in my veins? Whatevs, we're marrying each other and that is all that matters.

Alright, done with my letters for this morning. Here's the status on our plans:

>>>We received our contract for a venue this week so we have to staple down what times we want the ceremony to start. I'm guessing it will start around 5 or 6 with reception to follow.

>>> have contacted every photographer in the state, I kid you not. And we're starting to narrow it down some so I'm hoping we'll have someone stapled down within this week or next.

>>>My MOH texted me and said she is working on menus and decor for my bridal shower. I have the best people surrounding me, blessed beyond measure.

>>>I started the search for DJs this week and found one that I think will be a good fit. Josh is going to do a little more searching since music is more his deal.

>>>My dress and veil are checked off the list. Next thing to do is find shoes and undergarmets so that I can have the dress altered.

>>>I'm itching to go look at wedding bands so hopefully we'll be able to start at least looking around soon.

>>>Mom has an appointment with a florist today and I'm anxious to speak with her tonight and see how that goes.

>>>Josh has been looking up ideas for his grooms cake. 12th hole of the Masters in Augusta anyone?!

>>>Mom is also speaking with a lady at church who makes wedding cakes about possibly working with us.

>>>My future SIL is a graphic designer and will hopefully be playing a part in the design of our save the dates, invites and programs!

>>>Josh and I started looking up honeymoons, we're really leaning towards Antigua. Anyone been there?

That's about all for the wedding updates! I hope that everyone has a happy hump day! We're inside of 8 months until we're Mr. and Mrs. Josh Colvin!

Mirror pic's are baaaaaaack.

My sincerest apologizes, again. But a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do for the love of the blog right?! Glad you agree.

This particular day I mixed fur vest + colored skinnies + booties.

This was the first time I've worn my booties not under my jeans and I loved the way it turned out, these shoes are definitely becoming my go-to. Mom got me these skinnies for Christmas and I love them...I would wear them every.single.day if it was socially acceptable. So comfy and so trendy!

And don't even get my started on this vest, I got it at Old Navy a hundred million years ago and it's reversible! And I didn't even realize it until about 2 months ago and boy have I worn THE HECK out of it since I figured it out. Love.

I just love fashion, I really really do.

Also, I apologize to those who have to see me in these pants every other day but I can't get enough of this mustard color! I also apologize for wearing my vest every other day too. Except SC has been so.dang.hot the last few days...I'm talking 80 degrees. Not working with my winter wardrobe, weather. Get it together dude or lady, whichever you are.

Happy Monday folks! I've got a busy week ahead so if I'm a little sparse on the blog, please forgive me!

P.S. Head over to Bloom and check out Nicole's fabulous giveaway!

Y'all, real talk, these weeks since school have started have gone by SO SLOW. The weeks seem to be dragging, anyone else? However, I'm not fretting yet because I know, give it some time and they will begin to soar on by. Let's High Five for Friday, shall we?

number one.
FINDING A VENUE! Just take a moment to pause and be so happy...Alright, done.
So excited to say that we have our venue to get married, do a happy dance!

number two.
Having a venue means having a date! I told y'all earlier that the date we wanted, so did everyone else in the state of South Carolina. But we got the exact date we wanted and we're less than 8 months away from being husband and wife!

number three.
It was a short week, holla for MLK day on Monday!. I'm not complaining about a day off. And in one of my classes this week, we spent the hour watching Big Bang Theory. No one on the face of the earth can complain about that.

number four.
I'm going to attempt to purchase my own domain sometime this weekend. So be on the lookout for a new address in the box up there! Trying to get a little more official on this bloggy blog business.

number five.
Cray cray is my new go-to word. Don't ask me why, because I truly have no idea why I've started using it. But I like it, even though I'm 49385908035 months behind and most people probably don't use it anymore. Oh well, just dancing the beat of my own dream.

I hope that y'all have the greatest weekend!

This post is going to be a little unusual for me because I don't normally talk about products that I truly dislike on here, usually just ones I'm in love with. But I have to share this information with you guy because I dont wan't this to happen to anyone else.

I went to the dermatologist before I came back for the Spring semester and she gave me some creams and such and told me to buy Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash to control my acne that had flared up the past several months.
So I did, followed her directions and washed my face morning and night with this stuff. Then I started noticing my skin was getting extremely dry despite the moisturizer I was slathering on my face each morning and night.

Then one night when I washed my face my whole entire face burned so badly and I had red, raw spots all over and it was somewhat swollen...I had gotten a chemical burn from this face wash. And I don't have sensitive skin by any stretch of the imagination but this stuff did a number on me.

I immediately quit using it and for the next week my face was so dry and tight and it was incredibly flakey. My makeup just flaked off throughout the day. Even after I stopped using this product my face burned so badly each night when I washed it..and when it was time to put moisturizer on? I slathered it all over my face then had to sit in front of my fan because my face burned so bad. It was a terrible experience, I couldn't help but cry because it hurt so bad and cry because my poor face just looked horrible.

I used the Neutrogena for probably 3-4 days and it cleared up my skin a very tiny bit, but it just wasn't worth it. I read TONS of reviews that this product did the same exact thing to other people as well.

I have switched back to my Philosophy Purity cleanser and use that morning and night then moisturize after. Once my face is good and healed I think I am going to try and maybe, a big maybe, wash my face with the Neutrogena once a week, very lightly. Because I do think it cleaned my face well but there is no way I can use it more than once a week, and that may be pushing it.

So, my PSA, be careful if you try this product. And you may not want to use this as an everyday wash. My face was burned, raw, flakey, and dry for many days...even after I stopped using it. If this product works for you, more power to you!

Exhibit A-- it's somewhat hard to tell but my face got so red and swollen around my cheeks and eyes.

Exhibit B-- this is what makeup looks like when you try to put it on top of dry, burned, flaky skin.

Has anyone had any luck with this product?

BIG NEWS today folks...

we have a wedding venue!

Glory, glory hallelujah! Feast your eyes on The O'Donnell House. The prettiest place in South Carolina if you ask me, but I may be biased.

After tons of searching, read about my venue woes here, we finally found the perfect place! It is in Sumter which is about an hour and 10 drive for us and our guests coming from Columbia and about an hour and 50 drive for our guests coming from Aiken.

I hated to make EVERYONE drive but this place was just so perfect and so us, we couldn't let it pass us up!

Mom was actually the one who discovered this place and she fell in love with the pictures and insisted we set up an appointment and that we did! Wanda, the owner, was such a sweet person and so easy to work with! I really am looking forward to working with her for our big day and the house is gorg. I mean a spectacular ballroom and the rooms in the house are to die for...I wish this was our real house, haha!

So excited that we have finally set on a venue, which means we have a date...

September 21, 2013.

Less than 8 months away people! I am over the moon. I am so happy and relieved to cross "venue" off our to-do list. Now on to the search for a photographer so we can book our engagement photos here in a couple months.

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed and listening to our my stressful freak outs over a venue. The good Lord took good care of us! All of this is becoming so real and to have an actual countdown going makes me so happy! I can not wait to be Josh's wife, that is one good man.

When I was home for the long weekend Josh and I made a trip to the mall and I made 2 fantastic purchases. This hat and booties, I'm in love. I got the hat on sale at F21 for $4 and the booties at Express for $10! They are THE most comfortable heel/bootie type shoes that I own, I was very impressed with the way they wear. And I was in them alllll day and they didn't hurt my feet a bit! I wish I would have bought them in every color at $10 a piece!

By the way, January is THE time to do winter clothes shopping. It's techinally "the end of the season" and every store in the mall had at least 50% off of almost the whole store. I was in shock at some of the prices I was seeing on things. I definitely know when I'll be shopping for clothes next winter.

I wore this hat to church and then to Josh's birthday dinner with his family afterwards. If you find me wearing this hat everyday, don't be surprised. I love it that much, haha! I also bought it for my trip to London!

Here is how I paired this outfit for church, then a day out. For church I added tights and a skirt then put on a pair of jeans afterwards! Such an easy transition, especially when you're in a hurry.

(I was in town this weekend so my mom and Josh were my photographers. You're welcome for no mirror pic's in this post, ha!)

P.S. Head over to Emily's blog and enter her giveaway. It's a painting her mom did and it can have YOUR name on it, total perfection!

My dorm room at Lander is awfully (really, really) dry. The air in here is so dry and when you get up in the morning your throat hurts and your skin feels like it's been stretched across your face because it's so dry and tight. It is no fun, let me tell you.

Josh swears by humidifiers. He uses his every night. So I decided that I needed to invest in one for this room. Honestly, I should have invested at the beginning of last year, but better late than never right?

I went searching online at walmart.com for a one that was reasonable, not too big, but would get the job done. I stumbled upon this precious little thing, I have to call it precious because it's for babies, haha!

Safety 1st - Soothing Mist Ultrasonic 360 degree Humidifier, Pink
Saftey 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic 360 degree Humidifier

They make it in pink and blue, options people! Although it is made for babies this thing is powerful! And see those little spouts on the top? They both go different directions so you can decide which ways you want your mist to go. That why it's called the 360 degree because you can literally have it going out all around your room. And it's so quiet, like makes no noise, zero. And see the knob, that controls how much mist comes out which I LOVE. You can crank it all the way up and have some serious mist coming out or you can have it turned down.

Now, I understand that the pink looks a little...girly, maybe even childish, but I think it's cute. Perfect for an office space or anywhere really. But the blue doesn't look like a baby at all. Where there is pink around the base, on the knob, and the spouts at the top...on the blue one all of that is white and the only thing that is blue is the tank part.

The size is PERFECT, it's great for any room. I always thought that humidifiers were kind of just for show, didn't really work. But boy was I wrong, I wake up in the mornings and I can breathe, it is fantastic! And the room feels so much less dry.

The best part? This bad boy chick is only $24.95.

So, if you're in the market for a humidifier, go get this one. I highly recommend it.

P.S. 8 months from today I'll be a married lady!

Happy Friday folks! Just stopping in very quickly today to show you a blog that I'm a fan of.
Tesla, my friend who writes this blog isn't a sponsor of mine right now and has no idea I'm doing this. But Tesla is a sweet soul and a very sweet friend. Remember that picture of the necklace that had an L and J on it? She made it for me. She is in my sorority and we're graduating together in April!
She's been blogging a little while now and is trying to grow her readership. So go pay her a visit and follow along?

Sweet Tesla, you have a great blog and are a great writer! You are such a great friend and are going to do fantastic things with your life
I hope that you all have a fabulous weekend! We're off to visit three venues, cross your fingers for us that we decide on one! Oh and I may or may not have signed up to participate in a little something cray cray in the next few weeks, stay tuned to find out what it is!

The day Josh and I got engaged my wheels started spinning on how to organize my wedding binder and what all I was going to put in it. I literally ran out like the next day and picked up dividers, a zip pouch and ordered Josh and I's monogrammed to put on my binder (which I already had).

I started making a guest list and wrote down honeymoon options, venue places, catering places, dress places, the list goes on. I knew I had to have one place to keep all of my papers and notes. My wedding binder definitely does the trick.

It only took a day of dress shopping and venue shopping and I had handfuls of postcards, business cards, brochures, etc. So I filled up my zip pouch really quickly.

I used my tabs to divide up guest lists and addresses, venue information and contracts, and miscellaneous. I take this with me to all of my appointments so that I can write down info and have a place to store all the papers that I'm given.

It has been SO nice to have everything in one place that I can look back over and add to when needed.

And on a side note, it's my very handsome, funny, sweet, and loving fiances birthday! Happy 28th birthday! I hope you have the best day babe, this is going to be a great year for you, I can feel it :)

Oh gracious...these pictures today. Just have mercy on me OK? I promise to you that I am shopping online as we speak for a tripod and camera remote so that my fashion post pictures don't look like this too much longer...but another post in the near future will contain pictures like this too. My sincerest apologizes.

So one Monday morning, my hair is dirty, I'm not sure what I'm feeling like wearing that day...and ta-da, this gem comes alive.

I put on my cardigan and scarf and think to myself, whatever I do, I am not wearing jeans with this, way too bland. So I open my colored pants drawer and on top lie my light pink pants I just purchased not too long ago, BINGO!

And this hat, my favorite. I adore this hat and wish I could wear it everyday. I truly do. And my scarf is from Forever 21 and the warmest one I own! My jacket is also from Forever 21 (clearance rack baby!) and I think it's one of my new favorites.

One of the most special Christmas gifts that I received this year was the One Year Bible for Women.

My parents gave this to me and I LOVE it! For anyone out there trying to read the Bible in a year, this Bible in particular is for you! It's already broken down into all 365 days of the year, how fantastic is that!

You don't have to pick and choose what you're going to read each day and where you're going to start and finish because that's already done for you! When you start each day consist of passages of a Genesis, then Matthew, then Psalm, then Proverbs, and it will continue on. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes to read through each day. And I'm kind of weird about writing and highlighting in my normal Bible (strange, I know) but now that I have this one I don't mind one bit and I enjoy being to go back and read things that caught my eye the first time. Also, this Bible is soft cover so you can bend back the cover and such while reading.

I have been doing my reading since the beginning of the year and I have enjoyed it so much! My mind has really gone deeper into the stories and messages that I read through each night. It has sparked new interest in me and made me think more about the Bible and what lies on the pages more than ever before.

Go get this Bible! Mine came from Lifeway.

Alright my beautiful bloggers, y'all are in big trouble mister (Full House anyone?!?).

Why didn't anyone tell me that finding a venue for a wedding is like trying to find a pot of gold?!?

Lord have mercy! I have no idea finding and settling on a venue would be so difficult. Here's my breakdown of what has to match up to be a perfect venue.

Capacity of people + Price + What comes with the venue + Do you set up and clean up + Is it what we are looking for + Is it open for our date
A big mess!

Bless our souls, we have been venue shopping like crazy people and still haven't locked one up yet. The date that we want just happens to be a bye week for Carolina...aka no football...so everyone and their sister in SC is trying to get married on that exact day. So to say it's been a struggle is an understatement.

We have an appointment next Monday with another place that I am praying (if you want to pray for us to find a venue you have no idea how much that would mean to me) we like the venue and that it is "the one". I have my fingers crossed like nobodies business.

We've found a few beautiful places, but sometimes these places are really tiny. And if we find a place with good space...it looks like a conference room with awful carpet. And trust me, I might sound picky right now, but I'm really not, I've been incredibly open minded at every place we have been.

Some places do tons of set up, some places don't even touch one chair, some places are tons of money just to rent, some people let outside catering in, some don't, and every place has a book of rules and policies a mile long. I really just had no idea it'd be this hard to find a place.

So...we're going to the court house! Ha! Not quite yet...but I'm not ruling it out.

Wish us luck on our venue search, we're going to need it!Check back later this week to see my wedding binder.

To my surprise I received ANOTHER vox box in the mail from Influenster!

Not sure what Influenster is? See my first post here. I received the college vox box back in November.

This box was great! I got a brush, energy boost powder for drinks, oatmeal, lipgloss, and a $25 gift certificate for shoes!

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Let's break this holiday vox box down shall we?

 Good QuikStyle Brush Paddle:
"Once again, Goody brings innovation to your hair routine! Go from wet to beautifully styled hair faster than ever! Super absorbent microfiber bristles removes up to 30% of water as you style. It's like a towel and brush in one"

I used this brush and thought it worked pretty well. I washed my hair one night then brushed through it with this brush for a little while. I eventually ended up blow drying it but my dry time was relatively quick after brushing through my hair. I think this is a good investment!

NYC New York Liquid Lipshine:
"Keep your lips soft as ever with the NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine. It's pure pigment ingredients create a 3-D gloss effect while Vitamine E provides shine and moisture. The non-sticky formula creates the ultimate creamy and soft textured feel. Available in 10 on-trend shades from neutral nudes to berries & fuschias."

I was so excited to receive a lipgloss in this box! And I have expressed my love for NYC before. I got a nude color so just putting it on lips that doesn't have like a lipstick color already on them doesn't do much. I suggest using this over a lipstick to give it a shine, shimmer, and a glossy look. I liked the way this went on and the tube was pretty big. The only thing that I believe they advertise that isn't exactly true is the non-sticky formula. I thought it was a sticky, but that didn't bother me while wearing it!

Kiss Nail Dress:
"Ultimate nail fashion for tips and toes! Just peel, apply, and shape for a manicure that lasts up to a week. On in minutes, off in seconds without removed. Nail dress is available in 21 different styles, many of them featuring 3-dimensional jeweled designs. Skip the topcoat, Nail Dress has it built in."

I used these and they were the first stick on nails I've used in quite some time. I really liked the pattern that they sent me! I liked these pretty well, they were very easy to put on and the only problem I had was that they started to peel at the tips a few hours after I put them on. But I could have possibly not filed the ends enough, I'm not sure.

"EBOOST will boost your mood, focus, and immunity with natural ingredients and no crash. As a shot or an easy-to-mix powder and in four flavors, you'll feel great whether you choose Orange, Pink, Lemonade, Acai Pomegranate, or Super Berry. And with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, you'll certainly need a boost!"

I used this one morning to start my day. I will say that I didn't feel tired or dragging at all that day, so maybe it was the mix?! It was a little chalky for me but I think I needed to put it in a bigger glass of water.

Sole Society:
"Sole Society allows you to discover the latest trends, share your personal style, recommend shoes to friends, and follow the curated collections of top fashion insiders. Inside this box, you'll ind $25 off your first purchase!"

I'm excited to use this and most of their shoes are $49.99 so I should get a pair for $25, they have a cute pair of flats that I have my eye on! Also, I can give YOU the code for $25 off, interested? Shoot me an email!

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal:
"Simply the best oatmeal ever-- and you can enjoy it on the go! Whole grain oats, rye, barley and wheat are mixed with large chunks of real fruit & nuts in a convenient single-serve cup. Just add hot water or microwave and you can have a delicious breakfast anytime, anywhere."

I'm not a big oatmeal fan but I am definitely going to try this and see how it tastes!

Thanks Influenster, loved the holiday voxbox!

*I received all of these items complimentary from Influenster to test out and review on my blog.

If you've been around these parts for a while you already know that I am a huge advocate of Benefit makeup.

Benefit is my favorite makeup line and I have (and still use) a ton of their products. The quality is great and you can't beat the way their makeup looks when you put it in.

Well, until January 16th some of their products are for sale online at up to 50% off.

Don't wait ladies, go get some staple products for your makeup bag.

Is there a better way to start the year than with a few new, fun goodies in your makeup bag?!

Today we're chatting about names.

I'll let you in on a little secret...I.name.EVERYTHING.

Literally, everything. Does not matter what it is. For example, I bought Josh a headcover for one of his golf clubs, I named it Roger, we call it Rog for short.

Josh gave me an elephant a few years ago. Within 5 seconds of opening the box I said, his name is Arnold Humphrey Colvin. We call him Baby Arn or Arn.

Things I don't even OWN, I name. I'm all, "Lets get that puppy right there and name her Marcie." "Oh you see that iPhone I really want, let's name it Polly".

I mean, I'm borderline crazy about naming things, but I like it. I think names give things flare.

For example, pet names for your significant other. Josh has called me Princess for the longest time and I have called him Pumpkin. Well a while back I decided to shorten it, which by the way if it can be shorted, I will shorten it, i.e. Rog, Arn, etc.
So Josh's current name is Pump, sometimes Pumpy. On any given day you can hear me running through the apartment yelling "PUUUUMP PUUUUUMP". I love it. When I lose him in a store and start calling out PUMP! people probbbbs think I'm crazy. Whatevs.

His last name is Colvin, I call him Colvy.

My cousin's name is Deanna...I call her Nan.

My dog's name is Dixie...I call her B.

Our favorite team is Carolina...Steve Spurrier is the coach...I call him Stevie. A player's name is Marcus Lattimore...I call him Marc Marc or Latti.

So there you have it, you're following a blog that belongs to a very strange girl that names EVERYTHING, and then shortens it. I personally think it keeps life fun.

Names are important, names define people and things.

Welcome to the fabulous new Every Day Life!

I hope you like my new blog design. The wonderful Roni from, ParkerPayge Designs created it for me and I am in love!

ParkerPayge Designs
via ParkerPayge Designs

I think it definitely says "Lindsay" and I love the clean and classic look it gives. Also, how perfect for a new year?! A fresh new year with a fresh new blog design! Roni was wonderful to work with. So accommodating and did exactly what I wanted while giving it a spin of her own which I really appreciated! If you are in the market for a new design, please give her look! She has just recently started her design business and her prices are fantastic. As I said, so sweet and gets back to you SO fast. Shows you lots of ideas and options and lets you choose exactly what you want.

It feels great to have a brand new design to look at and I am so excited to see what this year holds for my blog.

In other news, I'm back on campus for my LAST SEMESTER OF COLLEGE! Classes start Monday and I am so anxious to make this my best semester yet, although all of my semesters here have been great.

I hope that everyone has nice and relaxing weekend!

You have got to have this Sigma Beauty Makeup Brush. This brush is too good not to share, I would be keeping a wonderful makeup secret from you if I didn't tell you about this.

Introducing to you the F80 Flat Kabuki brush.

I asked for this brush from Josh for Christmas and OH MY GOSH...BEST makeup brush on the market, 100%. I first saw this brush on Emily's blog and she highly recommended it and so do I.

The first time that I used this brush it made my makeup go on FLAWLESSLY. It honest to goodness looked airbrushed. I really was shocked that this brush worked so well, I mean I was expecting it to be good but this brush is excellent. It's a tad pricey at $18 but worth every single dollar. You use this brush with cream or liquid foundation. I use Benefit (until my Kat Von D comes in) and I like how my makeup looks without this fancy brush but have mercy, with it, it's awesome. Someone even asked me if I was wearing new makeup the other day, haha!

All of Sigma's brushes are great, really. I also got a F30 Large Powder Brush. I really like it as well.

Sigma packages their brushes so nicely and sends you a little pamplet on all of their brushes and gives you a card on how to clean your brush and kept it in great condition. They also gave me a free eye liner brush, score!

I am very pleased with my new Sigma brushes and will definitely be ordered from them again when I need another new brush.
