When You Know It's Time

I wrote this right before the school year started and today seems like an appropriate day to post it. Enjoy!

The last month or so lots of thoughts have been filling my mind. My last year of college is upon me and sometimes I find myself wondering if I'm ready for it to end and for something new to begin. As you've heard me say many times before on this blog, I'm cutting a year off a college and graduating in 3.

Tonight as I sit at my desk, I know it's time. I know that it's time for me to embark on my last year of college and finish this chapter of life. I have enjoyed my last 2 years so so much and memories have been made that I will never forget. And I am quite certain that this year will be jam packed with wonderful goodness as well.

I have a peace going in to my last year of college. I have a peace about this ending in 8 months and something new starting.

Being away from home has taught me so many things about myself and I am so thankful for that. But after this year, I am ready to be back in my hometown, near my family. I came and I conquered and that's exactly what I wanted to do. I've made friendships that will last a lifetime, I've learned so much about myself, I've grown, I've changed, and I've discovered a ton.

It's time to wrap up my last year, enjoy each and every moment that I'm given. And then embark on a new journey, into the "real world" and put my knowledge to work, learn new things, grow and be blessed.

I'm Ready.

What's in my Purse you ask? Watch Me Tell

Miracle Dry Shampoo

If you're anything like me you've jumped on the dry shampoo train. I wash my hair maybe 3 times a week now. It is the most fantastic thing ever!

I use Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo and the stuff makes my hair look like I WASHED it that day, I kid you not. Perfect on second and third day hair as well.

And we all know I like a bargain...I got this at Wal-Mart for $2.74. That, my friends is a deal

This stuff gives your hair body like NO OTHER. As soon as I lift up my hair and spray it, I see it instantly gain volume, it seriously is wonderful.

It smells great and doesn't leave a residue.

I pull up the parts of my hair that tend to get greasy, spray close to the root, tousle my fingers through it, do that all over my head and voila, a perfect head of hair that does not look a bit dirty.

I highly recommend this stuff, SO glad I stumbled upon it! Your hair will LOVE you if you don't wash it everyday, I promise. Natural oils are good!

Are you addicted to dry shampoo like I am?

Where the Heart Is

Home is most definitely where the heart is and that is exactly where my heart has been all weekend. The drive back to school this weekend was not fun, I hate leaving my family. Especially after enjoying such a great weekend with them.

This weekend was all about family, yesterday we went to the Carolina game with Josh's mom and step dad and spend the day with them. Then today spent the day with my family celebrating my mom's birthday which is on Wednesday.

Life is good people, life is good.
Family is fantastic, family is very fantastic.
Home is where my heart is, home is right where my heart is.

Lander, you've been good to me but graduating and heading back to Columbia is definitely on the top of my priority list. Home is calling my name.

We added new Littles to our Sigma family this past Friday. We spent a great night worshiping God, fellowshiping with each other and Pinning our new girls for their next 7 weeks. I pray that God blesses us throughout this journey that lies ahead of us.

And to top of a great weekend, the weather was perfect ALL weekend!

Now for a photo overload, enjoy!

What weekend, thank you family for being so awesome.
Mom I hope you have a great birthday on Wednesday and I hope you loved all my cheesy decorations for you. Your new TOMS are so cute, you're a cool mama! Oh and we're starting to look exactly alike, bless our souls haha! I love you!

1. I made a 100 on my Media Law test this week, holla!

2. We are pinning the new Littles for our sorority tonight!

3. Josh and I are headed to our first Carolina game of the season tomorrow!

4. We're celebrating my mom's birthday on Sunday and I get to see my family.

5. I get to see my puppies tomorrow, I.AM.SO.EXCITED. I'm going to love on them until I can't love anymore.

I'll have plenty of pictures to share from this weekend, promise!

17 Year Old

Dear 17 year old me,

Let me start off by saying that I'm 20 now. So I was 17 just 3 short years ago and you might think that 3 years isn't enough time to truly learn something about life, but let me tell you girl, it is...it really is. Right now you are a senior in high school. Wondering how the heck time went so fast but so ready to get out of Brookland-Cayce that you can hardly stand it. Cheerleading this year is going to almost break you and possibly make you think you're going to lose your mind...no worries friend, mom is going to yell at the cheerleading coach AND the principal in a meeting, it is hilarious. Please make sure to remember that moment forever. You are also going to get written up this year, yep a D-Note and you get detention. First. Ever. And it's all because you get accused of taking something that had your name on it (crazy right?!) but no worries again, just memories to look back on and laugh and thank GOD that you never have to see your cheerleading coach again. You're going to do some pageants that you work your butt off for and it will just irk your nerves that you don't win. You're going to be heartbroken for a little while over a boy that you should have never went on that cruise with, proooobs the dumbest decision of your life but that cruise got you out of the relationship and sing praises to the heavens right now that it did, yes right this instant. Remember that cruise? I know you do. Glad thats over with oh and don't cry anymore about that relationship the best one of your life is right around the corner my dear, we're talking a KEEPER and he's a cutie, oh and he makes you laugh, Josh will be your heart and soul one day. You're going to walk across the stage at graduation and you're not the least bit sad to be moving on with your life. Rebecca moves far away to App State and you miss her a lot.

You're going to tour Lander and make the decision to go to school there, Griffyn is going there too and you are ecstatic. You also become a colleigate cheerleader, remember this experience, you are over the moon when you make the team. You're going to graduate high school and you're going to fall in love. Yes, real, true, perfect love. You take an awesome cruise after graduation and off to college you go. You move away from home for the first time ever, getting out of Columbia for college is the best decision you'll make.

You make a 4.0 for a very long time in college, how you pull that off, I truly don't know. You learn to manage your time like nobodies business and you kick colleges butt...all the while you actually think it's kicking yours. Freshman year is going to be a very, very tough year. Just remember: YOU MAKE IT. Most of the time, actually ALL of the time that year you're pretty sure there's no way you make it through that phase of life, but you do. You join a sorority and you cheer and you make A's and lots of other fun things.

Life craps on you a lot that summer...and the next summer too as a matter of fact, but you rise up, stronger than ever and keep on trucking. You decide that college is dandy and all but if you can crank it out in 3 years, you're gonna do it. You take 21+ hours freshman year on out and at this moment you are 2 semesters away from being a college gradute, saaaay what?!? Weren't we just talking about high school?! Be proud of yourself, graduating college by the age of 20 is an awesome accomplishment.

Back to love...you fall in love with a guy named Josh. He is pretty awesome and makes you a better person. You two basically go through h-e-double hockey sticks and back but by-golly you make it and just when people think they are tearing you apart, someway, somehow the 2 of you get stronger. It is pretty great how God works and as a matter of fact you and Josh are in a period right now where the devotional that y'all do together is changing your lives and relationship, for the better. You love him and he loves you. He's going to be your main supporter through these years.

You meet some faaaantastic people in college. You become an RA, after being rejected at your first interview, you get a call and get the job. You're gonna be REALLY devastated when you don't get the job at first, I'm talking ugly crying in the library bathroom and mom is crying on the phone because YOU'RE crying, it's a mess but totally worth it. And just one short year after being an RA you get a promotion and a pay raise, yeeeah girl, you heard that right. Your sorority takes a great turn for the better your sophomore year and you make some of your best friends there. The girls in the sorority you're going to become very close to and you're going to be really inspired (thanks Mackenzie!). You're also going to get really frustrated and just plain out aggrevated with people sometimes. Your residents might drive you bananas but it's all so worth it. Mom also spends the night with you at college a few times, these experiences are hilarious. You're going to be making all of your own decisions and deciding what you are and are not going to do, and this is a good thing, it makes you grow up a lot. Also, you hated making decisions at 17 and you still kinda hate it at 20, I don't think that ever goes away.

You're going to be lonely sometimes, you're going to be frustrated sometimes, you're going to be tested sometimes and you're going to be blessed all the time. Oh and when you go off to college dad will start talking to you on the phone a lot, and saying he misses and loves you, remember all these times. Mom is going to start skyping a lot and her and dad will chase down the puppies to put them on skype too, these are good memories. You and mom are going to butt heads a lot but don't worry, you always make up in the end and she means more to you than you know. Spend time with your family. Coley and Deanna grow up FAST and both Granny's and Papa's are gettig older, quality time is important.

Rebecca and Griffyn make your life whole. Rebecca is finding her way and loving every second in North Carolina and Griffyn moves back home to Columbia and goes to Carolina. She starts her clinicals her junior year and you hope she always knows how proud you are of her and what a great friend she really is. Rebecca and Griffyn are friends that are few and far between, keep good friendships with them, they are true treasures. Rebecca graduates this year with you and is going to do great things and you must visit her, even if it's on a farm.

Life is good 17 year old Lindsay. Just keep trucking. GREAT things are going to happen for you and life is about to make a lot of changes, you're growing up, graduating college and moving on with your big girl life very soon. New independence is on the horizon and after college fabulous things await you I'm sure. Always remember to love God, love your family, keep your friends close and don't let anything bring you down. You're going to make it and you're going to be fabulous. Oh and your fashion sense as the years go on, ROCKS.

20 year old me

I'm In Love

with my red pants.

I just love the heck out of these pants! The fit is awesome and I love how they are cropped. I honestly would wear these pants everyday if I could. And during the winter, throw some boots on with these bad boys and voila!

If you don't have any statement red pants, I think it would be in your best interest to invest in a pair.

Fashion post have been lacking here lately and for that I am very sorry. It's hard to take pictures of yourself when no one is here to lend a helping hand, but no worries, I have a few more post up my sleeve, the pictures just may be a little crazy, haha!

Life Lately

Hi friends! I have some pictures to share with y'all today to show what I've been up to lately.

Enjoy :)

The weather here in SC this week and weekend has been BEAUTIFUL! Cool in the mornings, fab during the day and cool at night, perfection!

Josh visited this weekend and we got ourselves into some football watching, putt putting, and playing disc golf. It was a great weekend!

Other than that my life is school, work, studying, and sorority business. Busy but good!

Happy Tuesday!

Scoring Big

When searching for a new devotion for Josh and I to do, I went into Lifeway, searched and searched and came out disappointed because I couldn't find anything that I felt like fit us.

So naturally, online searching I went. I stumbled upon some pretty great reviews about "Devotions for Dating Couples" by Ben Young and Dr. Samuel Adams. And boy oh boy did we score big with this one.

We're only on our fourth day but both of us are already so happy with our decision to choose this book and it is fantastic. It's one of those books where you look forward to doing your devotion for the day because you can't wait to see what the book and God has to teach you that day.

This book is broken into individual devotions Monday-Friday. Reflection on Saturday and church together on Sunday. Josh and I do the devotion separately then share our thoughts that we wrote down and what we felt like the particular days devotion had to say to us as individuals, a couple, and our relationship with God.

This book is very clear and concise and makes fantastic points. It gives 3 scripture readings at the end, a space to write down your thoughts and a prayer at the end. We have had a hard time with our past devotions with fitting us well and being one that we both truly enjoy, but this book is a home run for us.

I can already see a change in my attitude towards my life and towards our relationship and as I said, it's only day 4. This devotion is designed to grow your personal relationship with God first and then your relationship with your partner second (centered around God). That I love, because that's exactly how it should be.

I enjoy reading the devotion on my own, reflecting and making notes and then sharing with Josh and him sharing with me. I was nervous when I hit "BUY" on Amazon to get this book because I literally had NO idea what it would be like but gracious I am so glad that I did.

Also it has a page length prayer for the end of the week, a prayer journal, and a few reflecting questions for Saturday. I like how the weekend is a reflection and church attending time. It even has a space for Sermon notes on Sunday, perfection!

I definitely recommend this devotion for any couple and we got ours on Amazon for about $4 each, that is a steal!

Happy Thursday friends, no Friday classes for me this semester so let the weekend begin!

That Top Knot Business

Top knots are EVERYWHERE nowadays...agree?

I think the look is so cute, so chic and can really finish off an outfit.

If you want effortless hair for a day, top knot it is. Today was super humid here and I wanted mess-free hair so I was rocking the top knot.

I wore my newly favorite hairstyle while I was out and about shopping on Sunday.

This look is super easy and anyone can do it!

Put in a high pony tail.
Tease the heck out of your pony tail.
Wrap it around.
Pin with bobby pins.
Spray with hairspray.
Adjust and straighten and voila, top knot!

What I like about this look is that it doesn't look exactly the same every time and it doesn't have to be "perfect".

On Sunday I also picked up one of those bun creator things from Sallys. I really have no idea what it's actually called but it's like this round thing you put in your hair and form your bun around it. I wasn't sure how  I was going to like it but I wore it today and LOVED it! It was SO easy to use...and I don't even know if I used it right haha! But it creates more of a structured bun. I put in a ponytail put the bun thing through the ponytail then wrapped the hair around it and the fabric of the bun is made to hold all your bobbypins very easily! I definitely recommend this bun thingy haha!

Happy top-knotting friends!

Let Me Show You How To Do It

Do what? You may be asking.

Oh girlfriends, I got the BEST deals of all time when I went shopping this weekend. Please allow me to share my deals with you.

I got a pair of green snake skin loafers for $1.97. YES you heard that right, a DOLLAR and ninety seven cents.

A good friend of mine also happens to work at Old Navy and he gave me a coupon for 35% off my entire purchase. That is like shopping heaven! So I got a sweater, a running tank, a sports bra and those flats and all I technically paid for was the sweater, score!

I also got a $24.99 necklace for $3.99 at Catos!

I jumped on the flowered jeans trend and I love them, I can not wait to wear them!

I got a skirt and a pair of gray jeans for $9.99 each at Burkes #winning.

I got a headband at Catos that had no tag on it, so the lady gave it to me for $1.99, something tells me the actual price for that headband was a tad bit more than that.

And I got about 6 new pair of earrings, all ranging from $1.99 to $3.99.

I love great bargain days like this one. The kind where you come home and feel like YES, I got a TON of stuff and STILL have money in my bank account.

That is a great feeling my friends.

Today was my LAST first day of college! For undergrad at least. Let the celebration start...NOW!

Happy Labor Day!
