The Squeaky Wheel

always gets the oil.

Or something like that right

Well friends, today...I became the squeaky wheel. Listen, I HATE bothering people, hate it. I hate asking too many questions too many times and just seeming like I'm in the way or a bother to others. I used to really hate it but have gotten a little better nowadays.

Well I am currently in search for an internship for this summer. Since this is my last summer before I graduate college I am bound and determined to find an internship to get some experience and make some connections before I hit the real world.

So I have applied for quite a few internships and was expecting to hear back in March. Well, my email box had been drrrrryyyy and I decided that I needed to email everyone as a follow up, make sure my cover letter and resume got to the right places, and check on the status of the internship.

One of the places I applied at was the PR department of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. I emailed the contact person today and she told me that interviews had been set up this week and that was all she said. So I wasn't sure if that meant they weren't interested in me or if I needed to set up a time for an internship...so I asked her. She then replied telling me that her assistant had set up the interviews for next week and that she would review my resume again.

Y'all, I was crushed. I was doing my best to hold back tears. I felt like such a failure and like they didn't want me or that I wasn't good enough...and since I haven't heard back from any other places yet I was thinking "oh my gosh, no one wants me, what am I going to do."

Well not 2 seconds later I get another email from the lay saying
"Lindsay you know what. I admire your persistence which shows your interest. By copy of this email I will have my assistant set up an interview time."

I'm pretty sure my mouth dropped open at this point. Not 5 minutes later was my phone ringing and lo and behold it was her assistant. I now have an interview at 2 on Monday.

Man oh man do I hope I knock their socks off and do a killer interview. I am going to do my best to show them that I am worthy and that their time will not be wasted.

So, moral of the story, Josh is always on me about staying on top of people and following up on things that I'm very interested in. And this is one of those times that it 100% paid off.

I am proud to say I was a squeaky wheel today. Now prayers and fingers crossed for my interview and that I'll soon hear back from the other places I applied.

Oh and HAPPY THURSDAY! Tomorrow is Friday and I can't wait to be on the road to home to spend Easter with the fam!

  1. Yaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!! Wishing you lots of good luck on your interview!
