Happy New Year: 2012

Is it really the last day of 2011?! That is almost unbelieveable to me, time really is starting to get away from me, the years go by so fast! I really enjoyed my 2011 and I can't wait to embark of my year of 2012 and all that it may bring.

Wonderful things that happened this year:
I got 3 jobs on campus
I had the concert series of a lifetime; 4 incredible concerts this year
Started my 1st to last year of college
Started this blog
Had a fantastic summer spent with Josh
Enjoyed a lot of time with my family and close friends

Now for Resolutions, some people hate them but I am alllll about them. I like setting goals for myself and I love starting a new year and thinking of "getting a clean slate".
2012 Resolutions:
1. Do more community service projects
2. Be more patient and a better listener
3. Watch what I say to those I love (if I wouldn't like for them to say it to me, I should not say it to them)
4. Be more devoted in my Bible readings
5. For Josh and I to continue to strengthen our relationship centered around Christ
6. To have the best year ever

What are your New Years Resolutions?
I hope that everyone has a great time celebrating the end of 2011 and ushering in 2012, may this year be full of blessings for each and every one of you. (Remember, if you're out tonight, please don't drive under the influence!) Everyone have a GREAT New Years!

I hope EVERYONE had a great Christmas and ate lots of yummy food, opened some gifts, spent time with friends and family and most importantly celebrated the birth of Christ!
Our tree is already down and my mom already had to go back to work :( So it's just me and dad spending some quality time together, the holidays go by so.quick.
I had a great Christmas, my parents (particularly my mom) knows me SO well and bought me things I wanted SO bad but had never voiced, the woman is good and I believe my parents both loved the things I got them, it was overrall a great Christmas.
Our Christmas Eve service at church was beautiful with a great crowd, gorgeous cande light and our Christmas Day service was just a wonderful, we had fantastic music and a great messge. Christmas is such a lovely time a year...now time to look forward to New Years!

So on Christmas Eve I wore a red blazer, which I just saw on E! a few weeks ago is the.in.thing. I love the red, it is such a pop a color and such a diffrent color for a blazer, I love it so much. I paird it with black jeans, black boots and a black and white striped shirt.
This red blazer came from TJMaxx, but I'm sure you can find them every where. They are super in this season so go get you one girlfriend, after Christmas sales are out and about!

Now I want to share some pic's with you guys that I took during my Christmas celebrations:

What did YOU get for Christmas? What was your favorite gift or moment from this Christmas?

Spoon and String Game

We had our Sunday School party last Sunday and we played this game called the Spoon and String Game, hi-lar-ious. Oh my word, it was too funny and such a great game to play at any party.

All you need is a big cooking spoon attached to a roll of heavy duty string. You have 2 teams, of however many people you want, line them up male female male female. The woman have to put the spoon up their shirt then pass it off to the man who then has to put the spoon down his pants and it keeps going until it makes it to the last person. You have someone standing at the beginning of the line holding the string and rolling it out.
This game is a hoot, I am telling you. I laughed so hard, and I'm in the Sunday School class with the 'wiser folks' if you catch my drift...so seeing them putting this spoon up their shirts and down their pants was absolutely histerical. I had never played this game before but I am definitely storing it away in my mind to play agains sometime soon.

DIY Peppermint Serving Tray

We are having Christmas Eve at my parents house this year for my mom's side of the family and I wanted to do something crafty for her to use on Christmast Eve and I saw this on Pintrest and thought it was adorable.

What do I need?
Cookie sheet
Wax Paper

Pre-heat your oven on 350 degrees. Put your wax paper on your cookie sheet then align your peppermints however you want all along the wax paper (be sure to leave some room on the ends for overflow) (you can do squares, circles, rectangles, any design you'd like!). Then pop it in the oven for 8-10 mintues (mine was in there more like 11 or 12 mintues because it seemed to take mine a little while to all melt together). Once the time is up, take your cookie sheet out of the oven, let cool and then Ta-Da, you have a beautiful serving tray for the holidays!
Can't wait for my mom to use hers!

It's Almost Here!

Christmas is this week, how crazy?! I know it seems like I may have fallen off of the earth, I do apologize, but I have been enjoying my time home and yesterday I got my wisdom teeth taken out, not fun. But thankfully enough the surgery went well and I'm healing a lot quicker than I thought I would, however today I certifiably look like a chipmunk. Hopefully I'll be back to normal in just a few days.

Today I want to show you a little thing I made for my parents mantel for Christmas. I got all my supplies at the Dollar Tree and the project turned out really cute.
I bought 2 candle holders and 2 vases, placed the vases on the candle holders. Filled it with some silver stuff (I'm not really sure what that stuff is called HA!) then added 3 small ornaments to each and Dollar Tree had these ADORABLE ornaments on sticks so I stuck those in the top and VOILA! A beautiful little creation for the mantel. Cheap, easy and cute :)
Hopefully you've already decorated for the holidays, but if not, this is something you can do very quickly to make your home Christmas-ready!

Favorite Products

It's exam week and I am bursting to get back home, you just have no idea. I'm so excited to be with family and friends and celebrating Christmas and New Years and I can't wait to give my presents that I've bought, oh so excited!

Well today I'm going to share with you some a lot of the products that I use on a daily basis. It may seem overwhelming at first because of how many products are in the picture, but no worries, I'm taking it step-by-step.

Let's begin:
First we're going to start off with just a few things out of my makeup regime. (One of these days I'll have a post on exactly what I do/what I use for my makeup everyday)
I must admit: I am completely obssessed with Benefit makeup, I really just can't help it, they are AWESOME. So, for my foundation I use Benefits Playstick. It's the most wonderful foundation on the face of the earth. If you're looking for a foundation, go get this one, I'm serious. The downside: it is $34 and that really hurts me, but once you see how great this stuff is, you'll only cringe slightly at the check-out counter. Playsticks can be used alone as concealor or all over for foundation, and it gives you a flawless finish. Next up are the two blush in a box by Benefit. I have wanted these products for so long but just hadn't broken down to get them yet. Well lucky for me, Ulta had them packaged together for only $20 for the BOTH of them on Black Friday, I really lucked up on that one. I got Georgia and Thrrob. Georgia is a all over face powder that gives you a peachy look and it smells awesome and Thrrob is a beautiful blush. I adore both of these products. Now let's talk about my Mary Kay mineral highlighter. I use this as the last step of my makeup and it really highlights my face and gives it a pretty glow.

Next up:
(This is a random assortment but just go with it) A face mask, moisturizer and acne medicine.
First I'll talk about the Mark Calm Yourself hydrating face mask. Mark is a brand that is connected with Avon and it is great makeup at  a great price, I definitely suggest checking out their website if you love makeup and are on a tight budget. Anyway, this face mask is a cool gel that feels great on your face and keeps it hydrated and clean. You leave it on for just 5 minutes and use it 2-3 times a week or whenever you want. I really like the way it feels on my face. Then for my moisturizer I go back to Benefit, Dear John (they have the coolest name for their products). If your skin is dry, this moisturizer really does its job. I will say, it is a little heavy and thick but what I do, is use it at night before I go to bed and in the morning my skin is hydrated and ready to go. And lastly is Epiduo. This is a prescription acne medication that you have to get from your dermatologist. My skin over the last year or so has really cleared up and I hardly ever get bumps now, but when I do, this stuff is THE BOMB, I kid you not. Put it on there overnight and the next morning, voila, the bump has vanished and with this big a tube it'll last forever.

Next on this list is yet again another random assortment of products
I love the Aloe Cool & Fresh Equate lotion. You can get it cheap at any Wal-Mart, it smells great and feels so good on your skin. It isnt sticky or gooey and soaks right into your skin when you put it on, I definitely recommend this. Degree deodorant solid is fantastic. I am queen of having deodorant all over my shirt, how? I do not know but this deodorant solid NEVER gets on my clothes and smells so wonderful. It really protects all day and the stick lasts a long time, if you're looking for a new deodorant, definitely give this one a try. A very important product is a daily multi-vitamin. I take One A Day Women's. If you aren't currently taking a vitamin go find one! This one is great and covers all the normal vitamins that your body needs each day. The pills aren't incredibly big and I find them easy to swallow.

How shaving cream and nail polish goes together, I'm not real sure but today they do :)
I love Skintimate shaving cream. I am weird about my shaving cream, it's odd, I know. But I don't like it if its too runny or if it doesn't lather enough or if it lathers too much but Skintimate is the perfect amount of everything that I look for in shaving cream. They also come in different scents and for different skin types which is helpful. I LOVE NYC nail polish. You can get it at Target for cheap and they have fantastic colors. It also lasts a long time and it a good quality nail polish at a good price.

And lastly, hair products.
These are just a few of the many hair products I use every day. The Suave touchable finish spray is incredible. Before this I had a VERY sticky and heavy hairspray and it was drving my crazy so I decided to try this and it's wonderful. It is a not a hairspray that is going to hold a fancy 'do but it is perfect for a regular hair day and you just need a spray to keep the frizies down and keep your hair somewhat in place. This product is cheap and smells awesome, the way it smells may be what sold me, HA! Next is the Aussie 3 mintue miracle conditioner. I really like this stuff and it does wonders for my hair. I use it once or twice a week and can really tell the difference after I use it. It makes my hair feel and look less damaged and keeps its looking great. After Aussie is Suave again (I'm really getting into their hair products). This is a volumizing mousse. I just recently bought this because I thought for the longest time I just didn't know how to use mousse. I really like this product by Suave and it really does give great volume without making your hair greasy or heavy. Last product we have here is Keratin Plus hair cream. This goes on your hair while it's damp before you style it. This product is meant to repair dead ends, damaged hair and make your hair grow. Your hair is naturally made of keratin and using a product with keratin in it is GREAT for your hair, I got this at TJ Maxx.

I know I did a lot of writing in this post but hopefully I gave you new insight on some great products. If you're looking for some new things to use, try out one of the products listed above!

Christmas is a feeling

Christmas is a feeling filling the air, it's love and joy and laughter of people everywhere. Christmas is a feeling bringing good cheer it reaches out to touch you as the holiday draws near. It's mistletoe and falling snow and cangles burning bright. It's a baby in a manager on a cold winter night. It's glad noels and chiming bells and presents by the tree, it's the spirit of giving in you and in me. Christmas is a feeling, filling the air, it's love and joy and laughter of people everywhere. But if Christmas is a feeling bringing such good cheer, then why o why don't you and I try to make it last all year?

Happy Saturday

Finally the weekend! I was probably a little too excited to see the weekend roll around after this past week of classes, good news: classes for the semester are OVER! Only exams left to conquer.

Today I wanted to share a post with y'all about another outfit that I like to sport during the Winter. I've already discussed my semi-hate for feeling like jeans are the only thing to wear during the Winter so I'm going to post an outfit that I wore this past week that is a long-sleeved dress. I adore long-sleeved dresses, I mean really adore them. But funny enough I have the hardest time finding them with actual long sleeves and not 3/4 length. My mom actually found this dress for me and I love it. The sleeves are long and kind of big and flowy, wonderful!

Since it is Saturday that only means one thing: go shopping! I'm slightly a religous shopper on Saturday's, probably too much of an addiction but that is quite all right. Now, go find a long-sleeved dress to put in your closet and if you already have one, wear it!

It's the last week of classes here at school for me with exam week quickly approaching next week, so I apologize for my lack of posting over this week and next. I am burnt out on school and I'll probably sing and dance the whole hour and a half home for Christmas break next week.

I wanted to share with you 2 more DIY Photo to Canvases I've made over this past week. The first one is a picture of The University of South Carolina's stadium, Williams Brice. I snapped this pic when Josh and I were at a game and didn't think much of it until Josh was looking at the pictures and told me how much he liked that one, so this past weekend we went to the craft store and got a 16x20 and the picture printed out. This is the biggest canvas I've made and I think it's my favorite thus far, it turned out SO good! Josh is going to proudly display it in his apartment. (I really like the angle of this picture, how it's taken from inside the stadium when normally all photos are overhead shots)
The next canvas I did was for a friend of mine, Kayla. We work together in Housing here at school. She had me do a canvas of Clemson University's stadium, Death Valley. She printed off such a good picture, the color is outstanding! She's giving this to her boyfriend, Alden, for Christmas. I sure hope he likes it and I hope she does too!

If you haven't made one of these yet, DO IT! They make great Christmas gifts!

Just a glimpse of what I've been up to lately: my sorority had formal last weekend and I had the time of my life, I honestly danced the whole entire time. I was so tired the next day, who knew I loved dancing so much?! My sorority also had a tacky sweater party this week and White Elephant gift exchange. I ended up coming home with my own gift HA! It was a Starbucks gift card, I'm not complaining.

Hope everyone's in the holiday spirit, if I can make it through this week and next I'll be one happy gal!

Cute Outfit

So I was plundering on Pintrest the other day (my normal pastime) and I saw a picture of a girl in a caridgan, button up, skinny belt and jeans and thought it was super cute. So I set out the next day to re-make that outfit with my clothes. I wore a fuschia caridgan, white button up with ruffles on the front, skinny gold/silver sparkly belt, navy blue pants and gold flats. I HATE wearing jeans every day in the winter, I kind of refuse to do it so I have a collect of pants that are all kinds of colors like navy, green, winter white, yellow, etc.
I think this outfit is cute and modern but still dressy and can be pulled off for work or class.
I got my shoes, belt and pants from Old Navy. My button up is from Target (like 4 years ago) and my cardigan is from this place called Conway.
(I was on the phone in this shot, I do apologize. It's a must for me to multi-task all day, every day to get everything I have to do done)

Hope this inspires you to try this outfit!

P.S. I promise you that I will post soon about hair or makeup. I do my hair different ways almost every day but in the rush of getting to class in the mornings I hardly ever have time to take pictures of my hair while I'm doing it and pictures of the finished product, but I promise to post on hair soon and I also try different things with my makeup almost every day, but again, I am non-stop in the mornings trying to get to class but I promise a post will be coming soon involving one of the two :)

Today I want to show off a gold coat that I got from Kohls about 3 years ago but I'm still in love with it! It's a long coat, mainly gold with a tiny bit of silver in it. It has big gold buttons at the top and the jacket is 3 quarter length sleeves. I actually wore this jacket in a pageant once for casual wear. There is soooo much you can do with this jacket, it's adorable.

I paired my jacket with a black turtle neck, black skirt, patterned tights and black boots.
I love this outfit so much, it is so cute!
For this winter season try to find a shiny/fancy jacket that can be a staple to your wardrobe!

DIY Glitter Christmas Ornaments

Happy December everyone!
If you do not have your Christmas tree/decorations up, DO.IT.TODAY! The month of December is going to fly by, so put your decorations up pronto to get into the holiday spirit and so you can enjoy all the beauty of Christmas.
While I was home for Thanksgiving I put up a total of 4 trees...yes, 4! I put up 2 at home: one in the living room and one in the back den. We put up a tree at Josh's apartment and when I got back to school I put up my pink tree in my dorm room. I am in the spirit, if you couldn't tell.

I really wanted Josh and I to make some ornaments for the tree this year and we had a blast making them, I must say it is much more fun doing crafts with a partner than it is by yourself :) We made glitter ornaments (which I LOVE) and then just had some fun with a few others ones.
Today I'm going to show you how to make the glitter ornaments and a few others!

What do I need?:
Ornaments- Michaels (can buy in a box or separate)
Glitter (I got mine at the Dollar Tree, 3 to a pack)
Hairspray- the PUMP kind, not the aerosol (I also got this at Dollar Tree and bought the maximum hold kind)
An envelope
Plates and napkins- to keep from getting glitter everywhere
Sprinkles (I got mine at Target in the $1 bins at the front)
Paint brushes
First you are going to cut a small hold in one end of your envelope
Open up all your materials and get your station ready
Take your ornament and spray a large amount of hairspray into the ornament
Twist the ornament all around so that all sides of the ornament are covered with hairspray
Pour the excess hairspray out
Then take the side of the envelope that you cut and put it in the top of the ornament, then pour your glitter into the envelope and it will act as a funnel.
After you have poured in a good amount of glitter, swirl it all around the bulb to make sure it is covering.
You will then add more hairspray and more glitter and keep working the glitter all around the bulb until it is covered, after the inital pumps of hairspray into the bulb it doesn't matter if you add more glitter then hairspray ontop or vice versa. To get a good coverage after it's almost done, put the top back on the bulb and cover the holes in the top with your fingers and shake the bulb really well.
And Ta-Da!
They turn out really beautiful and very shiny! I love them so much!
We used some of the larger ornaments to make these and loved the outcome!

Next we put sprinkles inside of bulbs, sounds crazy I know. But I saw these packs of sprinkles at Target for $1 and they had shapes like candy canes and snowflakes inside and I thought they were so cute and would look good in an ornament, so that's exactly what I did with them! I added in some glitter too and put bows on top.
Then Josh and I got to painting!
(This is me putting paint inside the ornament, if you want your clear bulb to be colored but don't wait to paint the outside, squirt paint on the inside and work it around until it's fully covered up the clear part.)
Josh was proud of his candy cane, such a cutie!

Get up those decorations dear friends and Happy Holidays!
